Hey, I'm Oliver

Project manager. Parent. Expat living in London, United Kingdom.

Several years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually opened a new chapter of life overseas.

How It Started

Moving to United Kingdom wasn't part of our long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.

The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores felt more complicated than they should be.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, unease, and a lot of learning on the job. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.

Why I Built Open Meadow Craft

Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a sincere, everyday family viewpoint.

This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real-life experiences in United Kingdom.

What This Site Does (And Doesn't)

This site is:

  • Practical insights from living in United Kingdom
  • Centered on family life and everyday realities
  • Updated whenever something truly changes

This site is not:

  • Not a tourism authority resource
  • Not a sponsored review platform
  • Not simply a generic travel blog

Moving Forward

Our stay in United Kingdom continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue to document what we discover.

If you have questions about family life in London or anywhere in United Kingdom, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Oliver
